1. Sowing in open ground.
The easiest way is to sow seeds of thuja orientalis in open ground, so the seeds will undergo natural stratification. Sowing is carried out in November. At least 2 weeks before sowing, it is necessary to prepare the site. Carefully dig, remove the roots and rhizomes of weeds. The site for sowing should be in an elevated place to prevent stagnation of melt water. Sowing is carried out at a depth of 2-3 cm.
2. Sowing at home.
a) Seed preparation.
Seeds need stratification. To do this, take a damp cloth or paper towel. We make a bundle, inside which we place the seeds. We put the bundle in the package. We tie it up and place it in the refrigerator on the bottom shelf. It is best to do this procedure in late December - early January. Keep the seeds in the refrigerator for 1 month. After that, before sowing, the seeds must be kept for about half an hour in a light pink solution of potassium permanganate.
b) Preparation of the container and soil.
The container must have drainage holes. The volume is about 200-300 ml if we sow each seed separately or more if we carry out group sowing. At the bottom we lay drainage from expanded clay. We buy soil special for conifers. We carry out its disinfection by steaming it in the oven for 30-40 minutes at minimum power. Then we cool the soil and fill the containers. We spill.
c) sowing.
Sowing is carried out to a depth of about 1-1.5 cm. Cover with a bag to create greenhouse conditions. We put in a warm place. Every day it is necessary to carry out airing for 10-15 minutes. Seedlings usually appear within a week.
