DROP
Many people prefer to grow conifers with a long-term stratification process of at least 90 days, and today I will tell you a faster, more convenient and easier way, but at the same time no less, and sometimes more effective.
1. Seed preparation.
We take the seeds and soak them in ice water for 3 days. Freshly broken snow or even frost from the refrigerator is perfect for this, if there is no snow. You can use ice cubes for soft drinks. We take a container of sufficient volume so that the seeds are covered with at least 1 cm of water on top. Next, we put this container on a cold windowsill, but it is better, of course, in the refrigerator.
2. Preparation of the container and soil.
Any container is suitable, both cups for individual sowing of each seed, and more voluminous containers. From a larger container, it will simply then be necessary to pick each plant into a separate container, but this is not difficult and does not take much time. It is best to buy soil ready for growing conifers and bonsai. You can cook it yourself, but for this you need to wait for the warm season, and this is not always convenient. For self-preparation, the top loose layer of soil is simply collected under their coniferous trees in the forest. In both cases, for better air and water permeability, you need to add a baking powder (vermiculite, perlite, diatomite, coarse river sand).
3. Sowing.
The seeds prepared in this way are sown in holes about 1 cm deep. They fall asleep, but do not compact. It is better to pour with rain or melt water from a spray gun. Then build a greenhouse from a bag or glass. Ventilate daily for 10-15 minutes. Shoots appear unevenly from 10 to 40 days. If necessary, during the ventilation, water the crops from the pulevizator.
